The Real Housewives of Sydney - Allison (Repost)

We are going to have a little fun with this series of blogs. You will meet my lovely group of friends and you will discover what they like to read, their likes, dislikes and a few other things I didn't even know about them! Our first housewife is ALLISON. She's gorgeous, considerate and though she may say she's conservative I know she can party hard.

What are you reading at the moment?
I’m reading “The song of Achilles” by Madeline Miller. It came recommended by a dear client of mine who is well read and she promised me it wouldn’t be too high brow and truly it is a work of art. The prose is quite breathtaking and I am completely absorbed.

What is your favourite genre? Now be honest!
Look, I’m not a chick lit girl at all, I love literature, I love to get lost in a book set in a historical context. I love to breathe the character and travel with them. I struggle to be able to do that with chick lit.

Please share an inspiring, smutty or funny sentence from a book you’ve read. Or all three if you so choose!
Unfortunately my conservative side shines through here, “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again” Daphne Du Maurier’s opening line from Rebecca. It was one of the first classics of my teenage years and for someone with a useless memory I remember this line and where I was when I read it, the book just captured me for that day and I couldn’t put it down. Not quite inspiring, smutty or funny but just a line that stuck.

Aside from the three C’s (cooking, cleaning and children) what else do you manage to fit into your day?
I love to run. Sometimes I think I’m Forrest Gump, not sure what I’m running from or where I am going. Never more than 10km. It's my therapy during the week. I love pilates and I love to catch up for a casual cup of tea or bit of lunch with friends or with my better half, a house husband of Sydney.

10k's! I'd be lucky to get to the top of my street!

How do you prefer to shop (online or other) and where?
Mixture, hate my thighs so can never buy trousers or dresses on line as I need to try stuff on. Love shopping in Melbourne, I love the little boutiques down there and feel like I get great advice. I have bought shoes, tops, jackets, coat etc on line net-a-porter, sambag, piperlime even intimo!

What do you consider to be your best and worst feature?
My best would be  my positive energy. My worst is my inability to walk in other peoples shoes (metaphorically of course!)

We all love a holiday. Where’s your favourite place to kick back and unwind?
Oh gosh, I cannot think of an overseas destination over the past 10 years that I wouldn’t consider revisiting. I have so many favourites. I guess I am most at peace when on holiday in the Connemara, West of Ireland but that is because it  has such a special place in my heart. I unwind there but there is no sense of adventure just a sense of complete timelessness and arriving home.

 Heels or flats?
So flats. The only  heel I can even attempt to cope with is a wedge so thank goodness they have been trendy for a year or two, I can look like I’m in vogue without falling over.

An embarrassing moment…
Hmmmm, sometimes I wonder am I a permanent embarrassment for my children. I remember one time when training at a London studio for Pilates I was learning the rollover in the matwork repertoire and I did a little fanny fart, that’s got to be almost the most embarrassing thing possible right? Actually I cannot believe I’ve admitted to that in a public forum so maybe Georgie you should edit this out!

Not on your life A!

As a gift to all our readers please share one of your favourite recipes?
I am so not a cook, again the talent of my better half, hence the name. Many people often ask for  my Grandmother’s chocolate biscuit cake. So I guess those readers who support Georgie and her blog are the benefactors of this secret!
2 packets of Marie biscuits, 8oz butter, 2 eggs lightly whisked in a separate bowl, 4oz Cadbury’s chocolate powder, 2oz sugar.
Melt butter in a bowl, add sugar and warm together for a minute, add chocolate powder and mix well. Gradually add the 2 whisked eggs to butter mix. Having crushed the biscuits into little pieces pour gradually into the mixture and stir through completely. Place the mixture into a brownie tray or cake tin compressing down. Leave in fridge for 24 hours and then cut into fingers or squares and serve with fresh strawberries as a quick easy pudding for a bbq  lunch or dinner.

Ahhh, so these are the bikkies my Miss N rattles on about!

Thank you for sharing, Allison. You're a gem!
