The Real Housewives of Sydney - Jane

Hi y'all. Were back again with another lovely Housewife. Meet Jane. Far from plain, she has a casual air about her, never looks stressed and is fun, fun, fun!!!

What are you reading at the moment?

A Beautiful Place to Die by Malla Nunn ... loving it, but reading on an Ipad and struggling ... I am the slowest reader in the world (really!) and when it says I’ve only read 34% it stresses me as I know I have to have read it by a certain date! At least with a paperback, you can see how far till the end (whether that be a good thing or bad thing!)

What is your favourite genre? Now be honest!

Interesting question, don’t think I have a favourite, if it gets me in, I’ll finish it regardless! (As above, I hate deadlines!)

Please share an inspiring, smutty or funny sentence from a book you’ve read. Or all three if you so choose!

Seriously, I can’t remember the last 3 books I’ve read, let alone remembering a smutty, funny or inspiring sentences from any book I’ve read!

Aside from the three C’s (cooking, cleaning, chauffeur and children) what else do you manage to fit into your day?

Forgot chauffeur again! All the unpaid jobs get squeezed into my
day ... and all the other jobs I should be doing, I don’t, cos I manage to find every excuse not to do them! (causes my husband grief!) - see I’m filling this questionnaire in!!!

(Ooops. What attention to detail, Jane. You've read the Housewives before haven't you?)

How do you prefer to shop (online or other) and where?

Hmmm, depends, I like to touch, feel then think about it, then purchase .... for household stuff, anywhere I am really, not really loyal to one shop, but you could say I’m loyal to alot shops! But I do love getting a bargain online!

We all love a holiday. Where’s your favourite place to kick back and unwind?

The Beach (Central Coast) in Summer and the Country (Central Tablelands) in Winter!

Heels or flats?

Flats (though my mother says I should wear heels to make me look slimmer ... if only it was that easy!)

What do you consider to be your best and worst feature?

Another hmmmm, I love catching up with my friends (is that a feature?) and worst feature would be my thighs!

An embarrassing moment...

There was one, but can’t remember, so musn’t of been that embarrassing! Though I’m sure many of my friends could recount many for me!

As a gift to all our readers please share one of your favourite recipes?

Pecan Pie -- easy and I don’t particularly like pecans, but this is a yummy pie! Btw it’s actually Kathy’s Pecan Pie!! (ps I don’t know this Kathy!)
Nutty Pie Crust (makes one 22.5cm crust)
1tbspn butter
1 1/2 cups/175g plain flour
1/4 cup/30g finely chopped pecans or other nuts 1/2 tspn salt

1 tspn milk
1/2 cup/125ml vegetable oil 1/4 cup/60ml boiling water

  1. Lightly butter a 22.5cm deep-dish pie plate. Preheat oven to 220C. Blend all ingredients thoroughly to form a dough.
  2. Roll the dough out between 2 sheets of greaseproof paper to a thickness of about 5mm. Peel off top layer of paper and invert the dough over the pie plate. Peel off the other piece of paper and press the dough into the pan, crimping the edges. Prick the base of the crust all over with a fork. Bake for about 7mins if you are going to add a filling that will be baked longer, bake for 15mins for a fully baked pie shell. While the crust is baking, press down any bubbles that might arise. Cool before filling.
Kathy’s Pecan Pie - Serves 8
1/4 cup/60g salted butter, melted
1 cup/250g packed brown sugar
1 cup/250ml dark corn syrup (I’ve always used Golden Syrup)
1/2 tspn salt
2 tbspn bourbon whisky or 1 tspn vanilla essence (I use the latter)

4 eggs
1 1/2 cups/175g broken pecans
1 partially baked (7mins) Nutty Pie Crust

1. Stir together the butter, brown sugar, golden syrup, salt, vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the pecans.
2. Preheat oven to 190C. Pour the mixture into the partially baked pie shell and bake for 45-50mins or until firm at the centre. Cool before serving!
Thanks Georgie, just managed to get out of doing some of those jobs that should be done in the course of my day!

Thank you, Jane. It's been fun having you drop by and share. MUWAH
